A few days ago we were invited to a party at a friend’s place in Las Pinas, it is a journey we have made many times and we normally use Grab Cars for the trip. This time we decided to use our Bajaj RE Tuk Tuk.
It is not a long Journey just 20km, however, because of traffic it normally takes 2 hours, the quickest we have ever done the journey from Dasmarinas to Las Pinas during the day is 1 hour 30 minutes using Grab Cars.
For some reason, every Grab driver we have used has insisted on going via Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. A route which takes you from Dasmarinas, Imus, Bacoor, Zapote and then along the Alabang–Zapote Road to Las Pinas.
Emilio Aguinaldo Highway is a road I detest, there is not much wrong with the road itself but everything that is allowed to happen along it.
The length of it from Dasmarinas to Bacoor is like a dual carriageway in the UK, it has two and sometimes three lanes in each direction, but despite this, the traffic just does not flow. The cause being people reversing onto the road, Jeepneys and buses stopping anywhere and people sitting in the wrong lane.
Different Route in Bajaj RE Tuk Tuk
In the Bajaj RE Tuk Tuk I choose to go via Alabang, a route that takes you along Molino – Paliparan Rd, Daang Hari Road to Alabang and then the Alabang–Zapote Road to Las Pinas.
Going via Alabang did add 5km to the journey, as it is 25km where going by Emilio Aguinaldo Highway is just 20km.
We left home at 1:50 pm the Bajaj RE Tuk Tuk easily kept up with the flow of traffic, which apart from a couple of small delays kept moving until we reached the Alabang–Zapote Road, where we hit the normal traffic. The road is not wide enough to squeeze through between cars with a Bajaj RE but sitting in the centre gives you a good view on both sides which means you can see ahead on both lanes and take advantage of it.
